NNAS (National Nursing Assessment Service) is a program in Canada that helps internationally educated nurses (IENs) to become registered to practice nursing in Canada.
NNAS assesses the education, training, and experience of IENs and provides a report that can be used to apply for licensure in Canada.
The program was designed to streamline the process of becoming registered as a nurse in Canada by evaluating your qualifications and providing a report that can be used by regulatory bodies and employers.
Prior to October 2022, the NNAS report included a language proficiency assessment, which is often a requirement for becoming registered as a nurse in Canada, and can be used in place of other language tests, such as the CELBAN (Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses). However, since October 2022, NNAS no longer requires CELBAN or IELTS scores!
NOTE: NNAS is recognized by regulatory bodies across Canada, and is an important resource for IENs who want to practice nursing in Canada.
