I have been searching on how to write in this blog for a while now but I can’t find the link so I just made a comment here… Anyway, I just arrived here in Canada just a couple of weeks ago and I’m also from the Philippines like majority of the people here. I just heard about NNAS and immediately signed up and finished my payment. Unfortunately, I need to take IELTS/CELBAN that’s how I landed on this forum. I have already taken IELTS GT back home and got 8 in reading, 7,5 in listening and speaking, and 6.5 in writing. I don’t want to risk and have my papers delayed by failing the ACAD so I’m planning on taking CELBAN… What should I do? Your comments are so positive it keeps everybody’s hopes up. Thank you. JR
i buked my celban fr 22nd april, my previous celban score is W7 S7 R9 L8, n my recent ilets score is L8.5 R8 S 6.5 n W6. i need some tips for preparation and your guidance….i understand your concern [about taking my exam for the second time in one month] but due to the limitation of safe practice period i had to take this decision. i know its short time but for the time i will be 24/7 available for study. definately i will be investing in my studies i just need your guidance.
Hi! I’m a PR here in Canada for 1 year now and i am currently working as care manager. I’m a RN in the Philippines and I am planning to take my Celban test this year. How long will a have to review with your help to pass my first attempt in Celban? Thank you!
Hello! My name is J, I already took the celban twice and I am always short on the speaking component. I read your website and I am interested to review, but I am quite confused what to pick. I cannot afford a 3 month review. If you could recommend a class for me, I just want to do speaking — a one on one if possible.
for the Celban Conference calls is this one on one? 99$ for 2 hours?
How about this class that you posted on your website? the CELBANPrep Speaking Class does this have a one on one assessment and is this just for one month (since it states 4 weeks?), and how much does it cost?
Hello Kim! I’m good, thank you. I am a Filipino and just arrived here in Edmonton three months ago. I need to comply the English Language requirement for my application for NNAS. I haven’t taken any English exams yet since I arrived here and of course, I hope that I would pass with my first attempt. I am really anxious about the passing rates which are higher than IELTS and since this will be my first time taking an English exam.
I just would like to ask if how many months do I need to prepare for CELBAN since my application for NNAS is running. Do you think I can take the exam this year?
Thank you so much. 🙂 E
I want to buy a study package from you. But I dont have a pay pal account and also I booked CELBAN for this Oct,2014. So please suggust me how I can pay. Is it possible for you to take my exam and see what my level of English. I am very anxious about my celban. This is my last chance. Pls help me. Thank you
I’m good, thank you. I love Calgary, it’s nice to live here.
I’m from Philippines and I’ve been living in Canada for about 1 year and 3 months now. I took Academic IELTS 3 years ago and my scores was never reached the required scores for nurses. I already took 3x and I even attended IELTS review in the Philippines. As far as I remember my scores are Listening 6-6.5, Writing 6.0, Listening 6.5, Speaking 6-6.5.
The reason that brought me to your site is because I will take my CELBAN writing exam on Thursday. I had my speaking exam last Monday and I knew that I didn’t do great. I struggled for words, keep on saying the same thing, I have long pauses and I got stunned. I’m always having the same problem even before in IELTS. I am too nervous. This is my first try to take CELBAN. I’m crossing my fingers to pass my writing exams at least. I admit that I am not prepared because CELBAN offered me a schedule 2 weeks before the exam, since I am so eager to take CELBAN, I grabbed the offer. I will update you on the results. Thanks Kim. S.
Hi Kim! I am a registered nurse form the Philippines. Me and my family have been living here in Canada for almost 5 years since we arrived in September of 2009. And yes, Winnipeg is our first stop. We are currently residing here in Winnipeg and we haven’t lived anywhere else in Canada. In additon to this, I just got my license as registered from the Philippines last August of 2013 and am currently working on my english proficiency. On the other hand, I have a CLB score of L: 9 R: 9 S: 9, and 8 on writing.
Actually, I have already purchased your Celban preparation on Reading and Listening for $ 49 + taxes. And I think it is helping me a lot. However, my schedule for CELBAN will be on May 21st and 22nd of 2014. So, it’s next week! I was thinking of not taking my CELBAN on the said date after I read your advice from other people. However, I can not reschedule my assessment for CELBAN because they can not give me the refund of $ 375 assessment fee since my schedule for CELBAN is due in less than a week. For now, I’m doing the best I can in order to prepare for my upcoming CELBAN. I’m very positive that I will achieve the scores that I’m required to get. If ever I don’t pass, I will take it as an expereince and I will make sure that I’m prepared and confident the next time I will take the CELBAN – of course, with your help. Thank you very much Kim for helping us “New Canadians” achieve our goal in a smooth way.
Hi Kim. How are you also. Me, I think I’m good for the last couple of days but since last Thursday my level of anxiety increases when I received a letter from CELAS that my scheduled for CELBAN Writing, Reading, and Listening is on October 29 and CELBAN Speaking is on October 30 of this year.
I arrived here at Winnipeg only last April 13, 2013 with my family and stayed here for only 6 months. I’m 43 yrs old and a wife and mother of 3 children. My son is 15 yrs old which is now in Grade 10 and my twins (both girls) will be turning 10 this October 25 and they are now in Grade 5. I was a dialysis nurse in the Philippines before I went here. So to pursue my nursing career here I need to take CELBAN, which is the first requirement for all nursing courses here. Last August I sent them my application and for 2 months I’ve waited, they emailed me that I need to wait for my slots. Some friends told me that I need it to follow up. So I called the number included in their email and they told me that maybe my schedule will be February or March next year. It was good to hear so I have more time to prepare. But unfortunately it not happened and earlier scheduled was given to me which is end of this month as I’ve told you. I tried to call them last Friday to reschedule it for at least November or December but the person who managed the schedule is on vacation and will return this Tuesday. To tell you honestly I’m not yet prepared. I’m starting to review CELBAN only last week when I borrowed some materials in the library.
Also I had not taken any CLB or English Assessment when I arrived here. Only in … College I’ve done it when I was planning to take Health Care Aide course. It’s their requirement and according to them the result of my English assessment was good and it’s above average.
That’s why I tried to google some sites that will help me to prepare before taking CELBAN examination if they cannot canceled it.
More power and hope you can give me advice on what to do before taking CELBAN exam.
Thank you for your persistence in making sure I pass my exam or even get registered with CELBAN. I truly appreciate you.
Kim, I do not want to write any exam and will not get the cut off points, keep writing until frustrated out of it. What can I do to get my points at once is the issue here. Since I entered the country, I have heard of many people’s failure rate and success which is more scaring. Can you be off help here. I’ve never failed an exam and don’t want to fail this.
Thank you for replying me as usual.
