CT4 THE DISILLUSIONED DREAMER – β™₯ i was so frustrated … after i received my evaluation report.

Updated this week

Β

Hi kim! i am pleased to hear how you value us your students.Β I have been learning a lot from the lessons 1-5 which i did not used last celban exam. Unfortunately, i was so frustrated with myself after i received my evaluation report…. It was hard for me to accept because i did got high marks with the other three areas tested, except for my writing which is only 6. It was a friend that i met in the bus told me about your site, to be honest as a new resident here in canada i felt helpless. I dont have any background and idea about celban , and also i have been discouraged with ielts after many attempts. I am just so glad and inspired from the stories of your students on how you touched their lives. Β Im excited for the up coming lessons that i will be learning from you and at the same time feeling nervous for the exam this october. Hoping that Β this time il be much ready to face the battle.Β Β  hoping forΒ your Β guidance and help kim for me to achieve my goal.Β G.

Updated 2023

Updated 2023

Dear Friend,

Every once in a while I post a report written by an IEN for CELBAN Writing during the CELBANPrep Writing one-on-one coaching  (sold separately). Today I am posting this sample to show you that it is possible to write a complete, detailed and organized report in 20 minutes. This one was posted with only one small error. Here is my comment:

Wow, R!  … Perfect! How was the timing? She replied:

Dear Kim

Horaaaaaaaaay, I did it in 20 minutes… I hope that I can do it in a real exam.

Check out the report she wrote! Notice how complete it is. Can you write a report like this, and have it this organized, in 20 minutes or less? ~Kim

πŸ“‹ #4 CELBAN Preparation in Dubai πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ UAE, πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡¦ Qatar, πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦ Saudi Arabia and Internationally

Updated 2023

Dear Kim,
Good morning. ..Thank you very much for the reply regarding CELBAN.
I am currently residing in Abudhabi, U.A.E since last 8yrs, working as Registered Nurse in OR, in one the reputed hospitals in U.A.E.
Basically l am from the Southern  part of India, Kerala. I hold the Canadian PR from 2010.But I stayed there in CA, only for a sum of 2-3 months.Actually Abudhabi is my first stop outside India.

I tried IELTS few times, after having the coaching class in India in 2004.Recently I received an IELTS score of overall 7.0(L-7.5, R-6.5, W-7,S-6.5).Unfortunately for CNO, they need a 7.0 band in speaking.

I will be relocated in March.I successfully completed the CRNE.[Now the NCLEX is required.]  For the process of registration completion, l need either IELTS/CELBAN.

I have done the free self assessment for the CELBAN, (R-8 and L-9).So I need further assistance in CELBAN preparation. How can I register myself for the CELBAN prep? Is there any form to be filled out?
I need a positive reply before the offer expires.

Thank you again and expecting a reply as early as possible.

With regards, L

πŸ“‹1G* – I am from Philippines currently working as caregiver … I wanted to try CELBAN but I am scared … I am not working in the hospital now for three and half (3 1/2) years

Updated 2021

Dear Kim,

Greetings,
Β
Honestly, I am comfused to what english test to take,Β I was reading about Ielts but I found difficult. IΒ wanted to tryΒ CELBAN but I am scared because I don’t have the idea how is the exam is going to be, yes i know, there will be listening, reading, writing and speaking, but I am still wondering how is it going to be done in CELBAN. I have tried IELTS (general) before But I was not satisfied about my score, it was low, its was really bad and frustrating.
Β
As when I was viewing all your videos (Dear Kim Canada – YouTube) I’ve heard that thereΒ will be role playing , and thats makeΒ me scared evenΒ more because I amΒ not working in the hospital now for three and half (3 1/2) years, I can feel now as I do not know anything anymore in nursing, like nursing terms and all and so with the writing I am so slow, I practise, I try to write but everytime I read my out its so frustating because its just like it was done by grade 3or gradeΒ 5 student… I’m screwed!
Β
By the way, I forgot to introduce my self, I am G from Philippines currentlyΒ working as caregiver and soon to haveΒ an open permit, hopefully it will go smoothly.Β  (I’m working on my papers now). I am planning to complete my english exam within this year, I wanted to be a Licensed practical nurse first then hopefully I can proceed to a Registered Nurse somedayΒ if God’sΒ permit.
Thank you…please help me. G

πŸ“± #9 CELBAN Writing ~ Writing Incident Reports

Updated 2023

Β
Dear Friend,
Β
The Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses is different from the IELTS because the topics for the CELBAN are familiar: about nursing or your personal experiences. For this reason the topics chosen for CELBANPrep Wonderful WritingΒ assignments are about nursing, personal experiences or something else that is a familiar topic to the writer. During Wonderful Writing, IENs work with a writing coach/tutor who provides individualized feedback on how each IEN can turn his or her weaknesses into strengths. This process continues for Wonderful Writing (CELBANPrep GOLD), where assignments are in a nursing context: assessment and incident reports.
Β
I was so pleased, and surprised when one of my IENs wrote about incident reports as her topic for an assignment for CELBANPrep Wonderful WritingΒ She did such an excellent job I immediately knew I wanted to post it, so that I could share it with you!
Β
Enjoy,
Kim

πŸ“‹2G* How I learned to write CELBAN reports in 20 minutes!

Hi Kim,

Thank you so much. Admittedly, I really had a hard time with this first incident report. It took me more than 20 minutes since I felt blocked mentally. I was away from the hospital set-up for over a year now. But, I tried creating more reports to refresh my memory and the rest sailed smoothly in terms of timing. I’m glad that I am doing fine — thanks to you. =)
Sincerely, J
