While the Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN) is specifically designed for internationally educated nurses (IENs), preparing for the CELBAN can still be beneficial for other internationally educated healthcare professionals. Here are a few ways in which preparing for the CELBAN can help:
The Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN) is a language proficiency test that assesses the English skills of Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) who want to practice nursing in Canada.
By passing the CELBAN, IENs demonstrate that they have the language proficiency necessary to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers in the Canadian healthcare system.
Here are a few ways in which the CELBAN prepares IENs for a career as a nurse in Canada:
Choosing the best tutor for the Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN) can be challenging, but there are a few key factors to consider that can help you make the right choice: qualifications, experience, availability, teaching style, and cost.
Thank you for the interest in helping me out. I believe that am wasting time without having any material to start with my exam preparation. If I can have something from you now I will also appreciate it Thanks
How are you? I am really happy to read the content of your blog. It inspired me so much to fulfill my goals and dreams here in Canada.

Sometimes, I feel really discouraged. Life here in Canada is very different from the Philippines which I came from. Β It is very lonely here, especially now that it’s winter. It’s only my fourth month here, but I still don’t have any friends. My relatives here are not the same as my relatives back home. Preparing for the exam is very challenging for me here without the support I usually have back home.
I am fully aware that i am not making my assignments andΒ wasn’tΒ able to do everything about my CELBANprep, I’ve been through a lot this month not physically but emotionally. I feel hopeless and no energy of doing something to achieve my dreams and goals in life.In addition, my papers that we’re sent to the immigration was delivered back to us due to lack ofΒ signatures and additional documents are needed. To be honest, I was devastated and very down knowing that it’s going to be a long wait again. I want to take my exams and go back to school but i just cant :(..Being an International Student cost a lot of money. I am really hoping to go to school next year but Β i cant:(. i have no one to talk about this. I am really sorry for bothering you Kim.
This is A. You may not remember me but I subscribe to your CELBANPrep course 2 years ago. Now, I am very happy to inform you that I will be finishing my 10 courses in the BCN program for RNs this March. Yes! I am finally done with school and I will be able to apply for a GN position and later on RN! This is all thanks to you who made this possible. You helped me prepare for CELBAN. And during that time, I was losing hope because I was frustrated that I was not able to pass the IELTS for the 3rd time. But, thank God that I did not give up. You gave me the assistance, confidence and emotion
al support during that time. And because of that I was able to pass CELBAN on my first try. I will never forget it. Thank you so much! May God continue to shower you with more blessings! A
I moved here with my husband and our two children. IT has been hard. Mostly because I am home alone and not being able to work. Toronto is a nice city.
We moved here three months ago from Sweden. I am swedish, but I have lived i the UK, for four years, but IT was ten years ago. I was working there as a nurse.
I did the IELTS and failed to get the score I require, which nearly broke me apart. I misunderstood the instructor on the reading part, and I know that effected my result, but I still managed to fail on the essay which I wasn’t prepared on. It felt ok when I was writing. My IELTS band is: Reading 6.0 Listening 7.5. Writing 5.5 and speaking 8.5. Overall 7,0.
I don’t know if I should retake the IELTS or do the Celban, but I am now looking into the Celban. Maybe you can give me some advise.
I just got my CELBAN test result today, I PASSED! Β S-10, R-10, L-10, W-8. Β I am really proud of my scores and I have you to thank for that.
Β
I was confident when I took the test because I know that CELBANPrep prepared me for it. Β I have one thing to share to you so that you can also remind your students about it.
Although the Compare and Contrast task on CELBAN Speaking is used more rarely now that the CELBAN exam has become more sophisticated, learning how to compare and contrast is a valuable skill to have when it comes to both:
CELBAN Writing Task 1, and
CELBAN Speaking Tasks for “Getting Things Done” and “Giving Instructions.”
For this reason, the following is being shared with you. The piece is called Shopping in Dubai versus Canada It was written by an IEN, like you, preparing for the CELBAN.
Note the introduction, the conclusion, the comparison of things, and contrasting things in Canada and Dubai.
