Before the CELBAN or IELTS: Grammar Essentials Series it took many nurses six months to prepare for the CELBAN. But through the concentrated focus of the CELBAN or IELTS: Grammar Essentials Series, IENs were able to transform weaknesses into strengths within a matter of weeks! By creating sentences, learning how to edit them, and having them reviewed by a Writing Coach, IENs were able to prepare for the CELBAN – achieving higher benchmarks – in less time!
This post is part of our CELBAN or IELTS Blog Series: Part II
This graphic was created in December 2014 in answer to the question “How much time does it take to prepare for the CELBAN?”
In my experience of preparing hundreds of nurses over the years, since 2009, a pattern emerged:
- It took IENs with a 5 in IELTS 6 months to a year to prepare for the CELBAN. Their greatest weakness was grammar and punctuation. Increasing skills in grammar through CELBANPrep Writing Level One allowed IENs to achieve higher benchmarks in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- It took IENs with a 7 in IELTS between 3 and 6 months to prepare for the CELBAN. Some, those who had strengths with grammar and experience working in a Canadian medical field, took less time.
The intent of creating the CELBAN or IELTS: Grammar Essentials Series was to decrease that time: to decrease the amount of time it took for IENs to prepare for the CELBAN exam. (And, because grammar and punctuation is a transferable skill, taking CELBAN or IELTS: Grammar Essentials assisted IENs in other areas of their life as well: at work, writing emails to friends and family, and in school.)
It worked!
As with everything I have created: it worked! IENs were able to prepare for the CELBAN in less time by turning weaknesses into strengths.
And now the time has come. The reformatting process is complete. The print versions have been proofed. It is just a matter of time in setting up the final – minor- details.
Coming this fall (2018): CELBAN or IELTS: Grammar Essentials!
