Updated 2024

Hey Kim,
I am still little confused about this NNAS assessment . My doubt is that if we are living in one province so can we submit our papers for evaluation to any other province or to which we belong. As, In Alberta regulatory bodies want the language scores first. Please clear my doubt.
Thanks for very useful information. Looking forward to hear back from you.
Thanks
N

Dear N,
Thank you for reaching out with your NNAS assessment query! The changes can be a bit perplexing initially, but let me clarify the wisdom behind NNAS’s approach.
If you were in Alberta before August 12, 2014, you would typically register with CLPNA for LPN or CARNA for RN, right? Now, instead of juggling two separate applications, fees, and processes for LPN and RN, the NNAS streamlines the entire procedure. It’s a significant improvement, reducing the complexity and potential frustration.
Previously, if life circumstances prompted a move to another province mid-process, the ordeal of restarting the entire application with a new nursing college awaited you. With NNAS, this hassle is a thing of the past. The online application system allows you to monitor your status conveniently without the need for calls, emails, or snail mail.
Whether you’re applying to one licensure body, two simultaneously, or even considering LPN and RN applications together, NNAS simplifies the process. You can apply to multiple provinces simultaneously, adjusting your documentation and paying additional fees based on your chosen nursing groups and destination provinces.
Moreover, prior to 2021, NNAS standardized IELTS and CELBAN scores, making them universally applicable across provinces and license types. One score opens doors to various possibilities.
As of 2021, the English Proficiency score is not required by NNAS; instead they are focused on your documents. It is the Colleges of Nursing that will be requiring your English score later on.
SEE: When Should I Apply to NNAS?
Regarding your question, once your assessment and NNAS Advisory Report are complete, you can request the report to be sent to as many provinces as you prefer, each requiring a separate fee. However, applying to multiple provinces concurrently may lead to handling various processes, courses, and fees simultaneously, potentially overwhelming. (Check it out here: https://www.nnas.ca/?s=fees.)
As you continue your journey, focus on achieving an accepted CELBAN score to avoid the pitfalls associated with the CELBAN Trap. This should be your top priority at the moment.
Feel free to stay in touch and update me on your progress.
Sincerely, Kim
