♥ A few months ago, I was pondering if I would still pursue nursing…then… a friend… got his license

Hello Kim,

A few months ago, I was pondering if I would still pursue nursing because of a lot of things such as failed exams, and unpleasant news of IEN that were trying to enter the field here in Canada. In addition, I’m not a PR yet, this thing adds to my burden. Then,  2 months ago, a friend of mine got his license as a lpn in Ontario but too bad he can’t get a job. At present, he is here … with his license and got a casual position as a lpn in one of the big hospital in here. This event gave me the motivation that maybe it is not the end for me, I could start from scratch and work slowly but surely to get that license.

From a nurse in the Philippines, I work in different fields here in Canada. At present, I’m a window installer of commercial buildings. I have to fight the fear of falling out of the building, the cold winter that makes your hands and feet numb, and the slippery roads. My work is good but you always thinking and wishing that you hope you are inside the warm buildings of the hospital and doing the job that I like and I know well.

As of now, I’m thinking where to take the CELBAN cause the examinations in Calgary are fully book until June. So, I’m thinking that if I could go to Vancouver or Winnipeg to take the exam 1 to 2 months earlier.

Thanks Kim for everything. I’m wishing you … a Happy New Year.

j0443497[1]Dear R,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write! Taking classes is a great way to get to know people, and to talk with them! I am proud of you for taking this step… but I never realized you considered yourself an introvert!
I love your story about your friend! It strikes me as intriguing that you find inspiration in his story! He is not an RN, and he is not working full time, but that does not bother you; you still find inspiration. You find inspiration knowing he is a licensed and working in a hospital. You know that it is only a matter of time, and one day soon he will be working full time. And you find hope in the knowledge that you can do the same. I marvel at you, Rodel, that you find hope in a story that is yet unwritten: both yours and his!
I am so grateful you were blessed with such a friend and such a story!
Then reading about you out in the cold on sky scrappers in Calgary brought tears to my eyes. May God bless you with protection, and surround you with guardian angels, so that you can continue on your path of being a nurse in Canada and apply for PR as soon as possible so that you can be working in a warm hospital! May He grant you with extra wisdom and discernment to be aware of danger, and may he protect your fingers so they can continue to do the delicate work required of you as a nurse…

I am so grateful that you wrote! If there is anything else I can do to support you with your speaking, please let me know!

Sincerely, Kim
