Ducks Quack. Eagles Soar. Be an Eagle not a Duck.

Ducks Quack, Eagles Soar

I was waiting in line for a ride at the airport in Dubai. When a cab pulled up, the first thing I noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for me.

He handed me a laminated card and said, β€˜I’m Abdul, your driver. While I’m loading your bags in the trunk I’d like you to read my mission statement.’

Taken aback, I read the card. It said: Abdul’s Mission Statement:

To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment.

This blew me away. Especially when I noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean!

♦ I took IELTS exam 3 times. Then I took Celban. I pass the exam. I am now a LPN

Good afternoon Kim, My name is R, I am one of your student in dear kim. I would like to thank you for all your guidance and support in my writing. Though, I felt so bad whenever I check my writing there were lots colours for corrections- but for this corrections I improved and felt confident in doing an incident report. Honestly, I took IELTS exam 3 times, unfortunately I didn’t meet the score that they were requiring me to reach. Then I took Celban, first attempt I failed. Somehow, you gave me a chance to open my account in your website and from that point I practice and practice until I got the confidence to overcome my fear of writing. Luckily, I got a schedule last Sept…,2013 for CELBAN exam … and I pass the exam. Kim, you put a mark in achieving my nursing career here in Canada. Thank you, R

800!! I passed my first Celban attempt!

Updated 2021

Hi there, Kim!

Well, it’s sunny and cloudy as to where I  today. But I’m loving it!

I came to Canada about a year ago, took IELTS but failed half a point short in my writing subtest in fulfillment of becoming a nurse here. Now, I am preparing for my Celban which will be in couple weeks time.

I took a review with one of the universities here last year and now I need to brush up on some techniques. Do you have by any chance a good deal with your study guide to share with me?

Many thanks! And I hope to hear from you again.

Words aren’t enough to express how thankful I am for your help, guidance and encouragement. I wouldn’t deny that I was already thinking of other options in case I didn’t pass. I just don’t want to be so depressed and wanted to have a new course/way to look forward to if failed on this. And I did not fail, because of you. I mentionedyourCelbanprep to my friends but they are still undecided on what they wanna do. I guess it’s just a matter of what your dreams are but just like what they always say, ‘Dreams don’t work unless you do‘. We need to moveourhiney off. Haha.Thank you so much Kim. :)Always,

β™ͺβ™ͺ I was thinking of not taking my CELBAN … after I read your advice

Updated 2021

Hi Kim!

I am a registered nurse form the Philippines. Me and my family have been living here in Canada for almost 5 years since we arrived in September. And yes, Winnipeg is our first stop. We are currently residing here in Winnipeg and we haven’t lived anywhere else in Canada. In additon to this, I just got my license as registered from the Philippines last August and am currently working on my english proficiency.

On the other hand, I have a CLB score of L: 9 R: 9 S: 9, and 8 on writing.

Actually, I have already purchased your Celban preparation. And I think it is helping me a lot. However, my schedule for CELBAN will be on  May 21st and 22nd. So, it’s next week!  I was thinking of not taking my CELBAN on the said date after I read your advice from other people. However, I can not reschedule my assessment for CELBAN because they can not give me the refund of assessment fee since my schedule for CELBAN is due in less than a week. For now, I’m doing the best I can in order to prepare for my upcoming CELBAN. I’m very positive that I will achieve the scores that I’m required to get. If ever I don’t pass, I will take it as an expereince and I will make sure that I’m prepared and confident the next time I will take the CELBAN – of course, with your help. Thank you very much Kim for helping us “New Canadians” achieve our goal in a smooth way.

β™₯ A few months ago, I was pondering if I would still pursue nursing…then… a friend… got his license

Hello Kim,

A few months ago, I was pondering if I would still pursue nursing because of a lot of things such as failed exams, and unpleasant news of IEN that were trying to enter the field here in Canada. In addition, I’m not a PR yet, this thing adds to my burden. Then,Β  2 months ago, a friend of mine got his license as a lpn in Ontario but too bad he can’t get a job. At present, he is here … with his license and got a casual position as a lpn in one of the big hospital in here. This event gave me the motivation that maybe it is not the end for me, I could start from scratch and work slowly but surely to get that license.

From a nurse in the Philippines, I work in different fields here in Canada. At present, I’m a window installer of commercial buildings. I have to fight the fear of falling out of the building, the cold winter that makes your hands and feet numb, and the slippery roads. My work is good but you always thinking and wishing that you hope you are inside the warm buildings of the hospital and doing the job that I like and I know well.

As of now, I’m thinking where to take the CELBAN cause the examinations in Calgary are fully book until June. So, I’m thinking that if I could go to Vancouver or Winnipeg to take the exam 1 to 2 months earlier.

Thanks Kim for everything. I’m wishing you … a Happy New Year.
