Yesterday I shared with you the e-mail that inspired the Dear Kim Sessions. I wrote, ” I don’t know how it will go… but it is an idea, a way to connect with IENs, like you suggested” based on this blog.
Today I spent much of my day, at a cafe, working on my goals for the 2016 year, figuring out how to integrate my New Years Resolution of creating 6 new YouTube Channels, excited to use my Passion Planner.
Now, I have been planning for the upcoming year as long as I can remember. January has always been a time that I sit down and contemplate my goals, and then create plans to achieve them, adding dates, and writing them in my planner.
Being a creative person, much of my planning is different from how most left-brained people plan. It involves pictures, diagrams, mindmaps and charts. I use reams and reams of blank paper when I am planning… and lots and lots of colour! Then I set to work and achieve. That is how I made it through two degrees. That is how I have reached every goals I have set for myself. That is how CELBANPrep came to being. That is how I have engaged in research and development over the past seven years. That is how I am planning my 2016 in preparation for my new adventure in 2017.
Last year my friend, EFL teacher and Career Coach introduced me to the Passion Planner. I didn’t give it much thought. It is pretty much what I already do, but that was in the summer, and while I repeat the whole process in September, I printed out the last few months of the year, but didn’t pay to much attention to it… mostly because my goals were not yet clearly defined.
Here is a description from the website,
Passion Planner helps people break down their long and short terms goals into more actionable steps and gives them a place to incorporate these steps into their daily lives.
I wanted people to use this planner as a compass they could use to guide their daily decisions. It’s simple. You ask yourself: is what I am going to do today going to get me closer to my goals? Yes? Do it. No? Don’t do it.
I wanted to make a tool that encouraged people not only to start thinking about their goals, but make taking action towards them a part of their daily lives. And that’s how Passion Planner was born.
It really is a great story of how they came to be. But what really got me was the following picture.
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT MY PLANNERS LOOK LIKE!
Anyway, while I mapped out my goals, prioritized them, and created a timeline in preparation for my very own Passion Planner that I printed out and took to the print shop to have bound, I thought, “Hey, maybe this would be a good idea for my Dear Kim Sessions!” The more I thought about it the more excited I got.
This idea fits perfectly with what I have seen over the past seven years in the CELBAN Trap: 4 Ways IENs Fall. Passion Planning Dear Kim Sessions would provide support, hope and encouragement to:
